There is no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone across the globe. In March 2020, our world as we knew it came to a halt. In the weeks that followed, much of society was forced to find new ways to do old things to maintain a sense of normalcy in everyday life. The Lake Ridge Academy Class of 2020 was impacted during the heart of the pandemic in many ways including missing some of the most memorable parts of their Senior Year. And yet, they rallied and through their resilience and perseverance, the Class of 2020 was able to make a difficult situation meaningful and joyous. It is in their honor that this scholarship was established.
Instructions:
Using the form below, submit an essay of 500 words or less, discussing a personal situation where your ability to persevere and be resilient helped you to manage the potential crisis and what lessons you learned from that experience that you will carry forward with you in your life. Your essay should also discuss how others can learn from your experience and how resiliency and perseverance can be used to recover from a negative situation.
Applications will be read by a committee of LRA parents who will blindly score on a number system.
